I purchased my BMW at BMW of Chattanooga where I was and still am treated fairly and with utmost respect. I've been there so often, Desmond Hagan, Service Advisor, knows me on a first name basis. A/C compressor went out on my BMW. I called BMW dealer to get approximate cost for repair and was told anywhere from $1500.00 to $2000.00 dollars. Enough, I was not believing an automobile I paid so much for " COULD BE NOTHING BUT A LEMON". Even though my warranty was over long ago I called the North American BMW customer service department around 1:30 p.m. eastern standard time and spoke with a representative named DEE. I went over everything with DEE and told her I thought BMW was suppose to be a very high grade auto builder and I would never have purchased it if I had known a BMW couldn't make it to 100000 miles without spending over $ 10,000.00 dollars in repairs. I told her since this was a lemon, BMW should help with repairs. DEE said with the age of the car and the mileage there was nothing they could do. So I said, then are you telling me a BMW will not last 100000 miles because my BMW has a little over 91000 miles and I started paying for repairs when my BMW had 29746 miles on it ? I told DEE I drive a 1995 DODGE RAM 4x4, 5.9 liter short bed Pickup I purchased new and I gave less than $25,000.00 for it. It has 134000 miles on it, serviced regularly just like the BMW. I told DEE I have spent less than $1000.00 on repairs on my DODGE RAM PICKUP. I told her I could have purchased (2) DODGE RAM Pickups and had over $12000.00 in my pocket, ( NOT COUNTING FINANCE CHARGES ) for what I gave for the 1999, 528IA BMW. All readers need to remember that before you buy a BMW, you will save a lot by purchasing an American made auto over a BMW. I told DEE about my web site and that I just wanted to get BMW'S response before I wrote this so I would get everything right for this article. On Friday September 5th 2008, after I spoke with DEE at BMW, my wife let all the windows down after leaving work. When she got home, pulled into our garage ( by the way the garage has heat and A/C to help protect our automobiles ) THE LEFT REAR WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP. We do not have children and I would bet that window has not been used twenty times since the car was new. # 14 Today, September 8th 2008, mileage on my BMW is 91814 miles, MARK'S AUTO GLASS; REPAIR ORDER, REPLACED REGULATOR; MY COST, $445.55 . The total sale price was $ 52,121.42 after I added wheel dust covers and sunroof air deflector. Anyone and everyone that knows me would tell you how much time I spend taking care of everything I own, in other words I am very punctilious. My thoughts were paying that much for a vehicle I would get great performance for 150000 to 200000 thousand miles with little to no repairs, as long as I kept the BMW serviced. That was the only way I could see paying that much for an automobile; boy was I wrong. The following fourteen reasons will tell you why BMW is nothing but ( JUNK ), boy did I get ripped off. I am not listing all oil changes because I knew they would have to be made when my BMW automobile told me to and I did just as BMW called for; I do have all my oil change records . # 1 On June 18th 2001, mileage on my BMW was 29746 noted on BMW dealer repair order, replaced front brakes and rotors, cost to me $507.06; note: rear cup holder was replaced at n/c . # 2 On November 1st 2002, mileage on my BMW was 45048 noted on BMW dealer repair order, service engine, balance tires, replace wiper blades, replace a/c compressor drive belt, cost to me $353.45 . # 3 On August 7th 2004, mileage on my BMW was 63509 noted on BMW dealer repair order, performed an inspection II, brake liner repair kit, 2 disk brakes, sensor, replaced rear cup holder again only this time holder cost me $ 50.00; remember this because it comes up again, replaced brake fluid, replaced drive belts, replaced front and rear brakes, rotors, and sensors; cost to me $1960.02 . # 4 On March 2nd 2005, mileage on my BMW was 68112 noted on BMW repair order, replaced power steering hose, return pipe, suction pipe, checked battery, battery tested good; note charged me $ 42.50 just to test battery, cost to me $345.95. # 5 On December 17th 2005, mileage on my BMW was 74720 noted on local auto repair center Johnson's repair order, replaced rear constant vel carrier, replaced left front fog lamp, cost to me $422.34. # 6 On June 19th 2006, mileage on my BMW was 76600 noted on local auto repair center Johnson's repair order, replaced battery, cost to me $106.95. # 7 On August 3rd 2006, mileage on my BMW was 77876 noted on BMW dealer repair order, replaced ASC module and coded, cost to me $1058.09.

Now Is The Time To Purchase a SUV "SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLE"

With the high gas prices across the country, the suv market has dropped to a record low . Consumers are not required by law to sign a form stating if it had been wrecked, any major repairs such as "engine replacement", (which would affect the proper odometer reading), water damage, or if vehicle had more than one owner. A vehicle history check will answer these questions, thus helping you to come closer to knowing the true value and how much to offer. If you're still not sure how much to offer for the vehicle be sure to read in my archives, you will find the answer . Some may sound strange to you, but in today's high gas prices any savings should be helpful:
1) Make sure your engine is tuned up
2) Check your tire pressure monthly
3) Make sure brakes are adjusted properly "not holding slightly".
4) Less weight saves gas; "check in trunk and interior". Some people let
things accumulate. Only keep items that are needed for safety and tire change.
5) Keep vehicle clean; rinse mud and grime from underneath vehicle and fender
welds.
6) Wax at least twice a year; a slick surface cuts air better.
7) Do not rev engine or push gas pedal down further than needed for proper speed.
Ease gas pedal down when you accelerate.
8) Keep windows up and use a/c when traveling on interstate, or high speed highways.
Less wind drag will save gas.
9) Most important way to save gas is to travel only when you must. Cut back on pleasure
driving.

SAVE MONEY ( READ ALL OF MY BLOGS )

If you're ready to trade, or purchase a vehicle, read all of my blogs in the " blog archives" for money saving information. The answer may be as simple as color. Some people purchase vehicles with a unique color and when it comes time to sell, that's when they run into trouble. Here's a test you can try for yourself. Next time you're in a position that you can see a high traffic street, ( sitting in mall parking lot, eating in restaurant, or any place for at least thirty minutes) try this. Take a pen and paper, write down basic colors, red, white, blue, green, brown, yellow, and black. Check the color for each vehicle you see for thirty minutes, then total up. Odds are WHITE will have the highest count. I'm not saying you need to buy white vehicles all the time, what I am saying is look around at what colors sell well and what colors don't. If you purchase a good selling color, odds are when you are ready to sell, it will bring more money and sale faster than the unique color that is hard to sell and sells for less.

IS YOUR CAR SALESPERSON TRUTHFUL ( Tips On What To Ask )

Most car salespeople are paid by sales, and the commission is based on profit margin of the sale. The no sale, no pay, can work for you, or against you in this way. First, if the salesperson is unknown to you, ask how long they have worked at the dealers lot. Don't get me wrong, there are many hard working, honest salespeople that go out of their way to please the customer. They normally stay with a dealer for a long time. Dealers love salespeople that bring in repeat business. Repeat business salespeople are the type you are looking for. Don't be scared to ask if they have customers they have sold to on numerous occasions, and if you may call the customer to make sure they have been pleased with the way they were treated. An up front salesperson would love to give out that information knowing they are closer to a sale. The consumer, if well pleased with the salesperson, would gladly give a good reference. If the salesperson is new at the dealer ask for sales references from prior sales and check those out. I realize some people are new in car sales, so don't hold that against them. Most of the time they try really hard to please you. I guess what I'm trying to say is, make sure you are comfortable with your salesperson. Ask questions, and if in any way you fill the salesperson is not to your satisfaction, ask for another one. I can assure you the dealer will not mind. The dealer wants your business for years to come.

TIRED OF ALWAYS HAVING CAR PAYMENTS, STOP TRADING ( UPSIDE DOWN )

Upside down is a word that can keep you in debt longer than normal, unless you are able to control your trading. What is upside down? Upside down means you trade in your vehicle before you have collateral ( owe less than trade in value ). I saw this all the time. A person would want to trade, but after putting the numbers together I would realize they still owed more than the trade was worth. I would always ask, what was wrong with their vehicle. Most of the time the response was, "nothing is wrong with it," I'm just wanting something different. Almost every time, I noticed the vehicle looked the same as it did the day they bought it, except for wear and tear. What I mean by that is they never changed the look. That's a way you control your trading. You can do as little as adding or changing pin stripe ( under twenty dollars gives your vehicle a different look ). Before the next upside down trade read my blogs ( CHANGE THE LOOKS ) and ( HOW TO DETAIL A VEHICLE ); you will be surprised and financially happier with the results. One more thing. After you apply those tips, and later when you have trade collateral, read my blog on HOW TO GET THE MOST FOR YOUR VEHICLE ). You just saved more money. Please let me and your friends know how much you saved.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR AUTOMOBILE FROM BEING ( REPOSSESSED )

The best way to keep your automobile from repossession is simple, do not get behind on payments. I know sometimes people fall on hard times. When this happens, stay in contact with the company or institution making your loan. Most establishments will work with you to help keep your automobile. If your efforts fail, and your automobile is about to be repossessed, check the law in your state. Some states do not honor repossession of a vehicle without going through the court system. The states that do allow repossession without going through the court system still have certain laws that apply. A vehicle cannot be repossessed if inside a closed fence, or parked in a garage with another personal vehicle blocking its exit. In my state, if you verbally tell the repo person you are not going to surrender the vehicle, legally they cannot take the vehicle at that time. The courts will determine the fate of your vehicle. Don't let the repo person use scare tactics; this is against the law.

USED CAR DEALERS GET A BUM RAP, THE INSIDE TRUTH

In the old day's anyone could open a used car lot, no rules, no regulations; the sky was the limit. Because of that, today's used car dealer ( Independent Automobile Dealer ) does not get the same public approval as a new car dealer, even though the new car dealer is also selling used cars. Here are some facts I need to bring to your attention. I was an Independent automobile Dealer ( used car dealer ). To retail, or wholesale used cars I had to apply for a state license. To receive the license I had to first establish my place of business, have a sign made showing name and phone number of business, take a photo from highway of the lot, the building, and the sign. I had to be finger printed so the SBI ( State Bureau Of Investigation ) could do a background check on me. I had to apply for a State sales tax license. I was required to be bonded for ($ 20000.00 ) dollars. I had to carry commercial insurance. I had to attend a state regulated seminar in which all state and federal laws concerning used automobile sales and all other issues concerning used automobile sales were discussed. At the end of the seminar, I had to pass a test to receive a certified certificate. After all of this is done, I then had to submit everything to the State for a board to review before I received my state license to become a ( Used Automobile Dealer ). If you are lucky enough to be approved you then must apply for a ( master tag ). You must have a master tag for title work . Master tags are also needed with other documentation to register with auto auctions. Used Automobile Dealers can have their License pulled, they can be fined, and sometimes they can go to jail if they break certain rules and regulations. You do not know when a state board approved inspector will show up at your car lot to inspect your files, license, bond, insurance and automobiles. The inspector will leave you a report. Thank goodness I always received a good report. Every two years you have to renew your license. Again, you have to attend a state regulated seminar, pass the test, resubmit to the state your seminar certified, bond, insurance and apply for new master tags. As I told you, new car dealers sell used cars also. The funny thing is not once, and I repeat, not once, did I ever see a new car dealer at any state required seminar to sell used cars. Thus, THE USED CAR DEALER GET'S THE BUM RAP.

WHEN TO GET BEST DEALS ON USED ( Boats, Jet Ski's, and Street Motorcycles )

If you want a bargain the best time to purchase a used boat, jet ski, or street motorcycle is fall and winter if your climate has cold winters. SUV'S ( sport utility vehicles ) sale well year around. Be sure you try out the boats and jet ski's (wet suite if necessary) in a lake . They may sound perfect on land, but they need to be in water to test the power. I know this from experience. I purchased a used jet ski at an auto auction. They fired it up briefly and it sounded great, so I bought it. When it was put in a lake it had no power. When it was checked out, we realized one of the pistons was missing. Don't let this scare you away. It won't happen to you if you test them in a lake first. Test the motorcycle out on the road before you purchase it. Full size pickup trucks come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and options. Keep in mind the number of people that will ride in the full size pickup truck most of the time. Two or three people can ride easily in a full size standard cab, four or more in an extended cab, or four door cab. Manufacturers have different names for their full size pickup truck body styles. Other factors include what you haul ( will a short bed or long bed work ). The weight you need to haul ( light weight or heavy duty pickup ). If you drive off road a lot, a four wheel drive could be your option. If you put a lot of miles on a truck and need heavy duty pulling power a diesel engine could be your option. You can purchase a full size pickup truck with many options and engine sizes. If you pull trailers of heavy towing weight and long length, you might consider a custom flat bed body. Custom flat beds are a big seller with gooseneck trailers. You can purchase a custom flat bed dressed out to the max, or basic, they also come with many add on options. I do not recall a customer ever asking me how much the total finance charge would be. Most buy here pay here Independent Automobile dealers charge from 15 to 28% interest, with an average down payment from $500.00 to $1500 dollars with a two to four year payout depending on vehicle cost. Used car business slows down through the Holidays and dealers are hungry for a sale. Now is a great time to wheel and deal. If you can pay 50% or more down than they are asking you should get a better rate. Before you mention it ask the dealer to show you how much the total finance charge is, not weekly, or monthly, but the total interest rate cost on the vehicle you are getting a quote on. If they will not show you on paper walk out the door. When you see the finance cost you are ready to offer more down if you get a better rate. You will get a better rate at most buy here pay here lots. If the first dealer is not wheeling to deal shop around. When you get the rate lowered compare the before and after savings. You just saved hundreds of dollars on a four year note. Be sure to read all my posts for tips on saving and making money. At the same time your vehicle will have a much different look. The look will depend on how much you want to spend and how much you add. Some ideas for a different look would include a winch and new bumper combination, brush guard, different type of light covers to cover the headlights and tail lights, nerf bar, or running boards. An exterior rear tire kit also looks good on an SUV. Luggage racks and guardrails create a nice look. Pin stripe is another creative look which comes in many different sizes and colors. Just to give you an example, i would purchase jeep wranglers and then buy new custom wheels, larger tires, custom made wrangler decals, and replaced convertible tops and seats if needed. These additions increased the value of the wrangler, sales, and profits.

KEEP YOUR RIDE " CHANGE THE LOOKS " ( Window tint )

Window tint comes in different colors, which allows you to select a color that works well with your paint. If your vehicle is a two tone ( painted two colors ) you can have it painted one color or vise a versa. Look at your vehicles paint closely. The paint is one of these three; solid, or it could be metallic mixed into the paint, or a metal flake mixed into the paint. Changing the paint type alone will give your vehicle a different look. Shop around for a reliable paint shop.

KEEP YOUR RIDE, " CHANGE THE LOOKS " ( Tires )

Tires are one of the important safety features that helps your vehicle in more than one way. First thing you need to do is be sure you have all the paperwork since the day you purchased the vehicle; including oil changes. If vehicle was used when you received it, keep all the previous paperwork too ( if you did not keep all the paperwork be sure on your next purchase you do; a good paper trail helps sale a vehicle). Do not trade in your vehicle, sell it yourself. Why you ask? Think for a minute, an automobile dealer needs to make a profit when they resale it. That's extra money you could have pocketed. Be sure you know what your vehicle is worth ( see my blogs about auto auctions ). If a dealer tells you they are allowing as much or more than you are asking, that should be a red flag. If a dealer is willing to take a loss on the trade they will make it up on the sale to you ( see my next blog on how to buy from an automobile dealer and save money). Sale your vehicle without leaving your house. Auto Trader on the web will let you scan a photo and list it on the web. Be sure you list all the extras ( add on's ). If you have all the paper trail be sure to note that. List it in auto trader magazine. Local newspaper classifieds is a good listing. If possible, park vehicle in high traffic area location. Print a detailed list of items on the vehicle that will help sale and increase profit. Tape it in window for consumers to read. If your vehicle drives out well and you followed all of my instructions from detailing to figuring vehicle worth, there's no reason your vehicle will not bring ( Top Dollar ).

HOW TO DETAIL A VEHICLE ... CAR ... ( the final touches )

By now you should know what needs touched up or repaired. Here are a few examples. If the paint needs touched up you can find the paint color number on the driver door post, firewall in engine compartment drivers side, or in the glove compartment. Automotive Paint Supply Dealers can make a bottle of touch up paint to match your paint. If you have chrome bumpers or any chrome , you can polish it with a chrome polish. If headliner is sagging you can replace or have it replaced. If you have vinyl or cloth seats with small holes or cracks you can purchase a patch kit, or have a professional patch or reupholstered. If the dash is an eye sore you can purchase an after market dash that fit's over the old dash. Sometimes replacing or adding a pin stripe helps improve the looks. If your headlights have a plastic cover that's getting cloudy, purchase a cleaner/polish made for clear plastic. Now your ready to wash the car again, follow details in part one. After dried, open doors, hood, and trunk, wipe the jams and door post. Clean the tires with hard brittle brush, soap and water. Wheels need to be cleaned with terry cloth towel or wash mitten, soap and water ( do not use strong cleanser on custom or any type of nice wheel). You can use a tooth brush on the hard to get to places. If the wheels are chrome, use chrome polish. Wipe the tires with a tire dressing, (most can be used on rubber molding, door, trunk, hood seals, vinyl seats, dash and panels). Clean exterior windows the same way as interior. You may want to place an air scent under seats, helps to sale. ............TO MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE NOTHING OUT, PRINT MY BLOGS ON HOW TO DETAIL YOUR VEHICLE. If selling, get oil changed, all other fluids topped off, and tire pressure checked. You're on your way to getting (TOP DOLLAR ). My next blog will give you tips on how and where to market vehicle.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://automoneysaver.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-detail-vehicle-final-touches.html' title='HOW TO DETAIL A VEHICLE ... CAR ... ( polish and wax )

There are two way's to polish and wax a vehicle. You can hand rub, or for the best finish, buff. The type of polish you need is based on the condition of the paint and how much time you want to spend. If the paint has surface scratches that are just in the clear coat you need to start with a mild compound. ( If you are using a buffer for the first time read this carefully ). If your buffer has a speed setting turn it down until you are comfortable with it. When buffing over edges or dips on the body, move over fast and lightly or you will cause what is called paint burn, ( past the clear coat into the paint and possibly the metal ), you must keep buffer moving. If the paint is not scratched or real dull, you can polish with a cleaner/polish . Be sure to use the proper pad on the buffer for each application. You can get everything you need at an ( Automotive Paint Supplies Store or over the web. Wipe off the polish dust after polishing with a soft cloth like I referred to in my last blog. If you see swirl marks, you need to apply a product that removes swirls; you can find them on the web also. Purchase a good wax, paste or liquid. You can apply the wax by hand, it normally comes with a foam pad. Wax small sections at a time, ( follow the instructions on the back of all detail products ). Wipe off same as polish. The next blog I will give all the final detail instructions .

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://automoneysaver.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-detail-your-vehicle-polish-and.html' title='HOW TO DETAIL YOUR VEHICLE ... Do not spray any liquid of any type directly on these items. If dusty, you can wipe with clean soft cloth, ( 100% cotton knitted cloth is nice ), the hard to get to places can be cleaned with a detail brush, ( or small art painting brush ). If these items need any cleaner applied, use a soap and water blend or a cleaner made just for cleaning those items. Spray cleaner directly to cloth and then wipe area. If you use soap and water wipe again with just water on cloth. Wipe all areas dry with clean, lent free, dry cloth. Follow these instructions on door panels, console, and the base of rear window, ( between rear seat and rear window ). Now is a good time to clean the interior windows, you can clean and wipe off over spray on dash and top of door panels after cleaning windows. Many window cleaners are available. If you have after market tinted windows do not use a cleaner with ammonia in it. Clean with paper towels or lent free cloth. After windows, you're ready to clean dash and any over spray. Many protectant products are available to rub on all rubber, plastic and vinyl areas. They also give them a shinny look, so now is the time to apply them. On leather apply a cleaner/conditioner product. When finished with interior keep windows up, close doors. You're now ready to polish and wax. Pick the items you want to detail for yourself ). If you have leather seats, use a cleaner/conditioner to clean the seats and all other leather interior. If you have cloth seats with stains or dirt build up, take them out . The seats can be sprayed with a multi-purphase degreaser cleanser, or you can purchase a cleaner made just for cleaning seats. Be sure to spray entire seat, this will keep spots from showing after seat has dried. After seats have soaked for about five minutes rinse them off with water hose, high pressure. Let seats dry in the sun or with fans before reinstalling. While seats are out you can clean the carpet. Vacuum the carpet, if extra dirty there are different options. Spray carpet with same cleaner used on seats, or cleaner made for carpet using a wet vac and low pressure water. Scrub stains with hard bristle brush to loosen dirt. Be sure if using wet vac, all water is vacuumed up. Leave doors open until carpet is dry. You can spray paint your carpet using a paint made for carpet ( make sure carpet is clean and dry before you paint ). Overhead liner can be cleaned with a mild cleanser. Do not rub liner hard because it could come loose from foam attachment. Part 2 interior will be posted next.

HOW TO DETAIL YOUR VEHICLE ( trunk )

A lot of people are thinking, why detail the trunk? If you want to sale the vehicle, it's very important in helping you get top dollar on the sale . First, take everything out of the trunk including the ( spare tire ). Make sure the spare is in good shape with proper air pressure. A lot of vehicles come with what dealers call a donut tire. If that's the case make sure it's in good condition . Check the jack, it needs to be in the proper place. If the vehicle is a late model and your running a set of matching tires in real good condition, but your spare is in poor shape, it would help the sale if you purchase a NEW TIRE that matches the set on it; same manufacturer same specifications. With everything out, vacuum the trunk, clean trunk jams, trunk lead, everything visible. Before you reinstall the spare tire spray, or rub on a tire dressing. All Auto Part Stores and Retail Stores with Auto Supplies carry tire conditioning products. Wait about the rubber seals on the trunk until after the polish and wax, for now close the trunk.

HOW TO DETAIL YOUR VEHICLE (engine )

You have to be careful detailing the engine. Be sure none of the electrical gets wet. The best way to prevent this from happening is to use spray bottles. Empty spray bottles are available in many locations. If the engine and everything else under the hood has a build up of dirt, grease, and oil you need a degreaser. Fill one spray bottle with degreaser, one with water, one with water and soap mixture. If your real careful you can use the water hose ( low pressure unless you have done this before ). You can use old towels to clean with. Spray all grease and oil areas with degreaser. Let it soak for about 5 minutes ( IF DEGREASER GETS ON ANY OF THE EXTERIOR BODY PAINT OR GLASS RINSE OFF WITH WATER IMMEDIATELY ). Most of the areas can be cleaned with the soap and water mixture, and rinsed with water. By the time you get this far you should know what works best. Clean and wipe all areas under the hood, from the firewall all the way to the front grill . Clean under the hood, hood jams, fender jams, surface over grill. After all is rinsed wipe everything dry. You can leave it the way it is or take it a step further. Spray all rubber hoses with silicone. Touch up the engine paint, paint other areas with clear coat paint ( cover fenders and windshield to eliminate paint over spray ). If you paint on engine be sure to use engine paint. (IF THE ENGINE HAS CHROME OR CUSTOM SHOW PARTS CHECK WITH MANUFACTURER BEFORE USING DEGREASER ).

HOW TO DETAIL YOUR VEHICLE ( washing body )

You can purchase a soap made for washing vehicles at just about any Auto Parts Store, and Retail Stores that carry Auto Supplies. Some people even use a mild dish detergent . It's important the vehicle is not in direct contact with the sun ( so soap keeps from drying ). Use a soft washing cloth or mitten . It's nice to have another washing cloth just for the wheels and door jams . Wash the entire vehicle including door jams. Wash the fender wells because dirt sits on the inside edges. Now you should dry off vehicle. You can dry it off with a shimmy or terry cloth. Water damage is hard to detect unless you know where to look. Most of these vehicles are detailed to the max. Open the trunk, pull away the liner from the quarter panels, if you see a build up of dirt ( dried mud ) that looks like a water line make a note. Next look in the interior. Main place to look is under the dash, even though it's hard to get to, look for a build up of dirt ( dried mud ) on the wiring , or any place dirt would lay. If you see a build up make a note. When a vehicle is detailed the carpet is normally shampooed so that area is not reliable, though you should look and feel under the seats (under the bottom of the seats ); any dirt build up make a note. Look over the entire interior for a previous water line. IF YOU DETECT ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS I WOULD RESEARCH TITLE FROM THE DAY IT WAS PURCHASED NEW UNTIL NOW. With all the flooding in many states that could be a red flag, if an area that had floods showed up on the title, your research just saved you some ( MONEY ) .

APPLES FOR APPLES

THIS IS YOUR TIP OF THE DAY !!!!!!!!!!

If you think it's time to purchase a new vehicle ( 2008 ) you might consider a new ( 2007 ) and save money for the holidays. Most New Car Dealers still have a good selection to choose from with considerable savings . I'll give you an example : Just this past weekend, my sister in law purchased a NEW ( 2007 ) SUV loaded, leather interior dual front a/c controls, headed seats, all power, windows, doors, seats, mirrors, with not one, but two sliding sun roofs or ( moon roofs ) depends on the time of day, satellite entertainment system and many more nice interior features ...... Exterior was just as nice all the way down to the 18 inch chrome wheels, dual exhaust, rear bumper sensor that alarms just in case she starts to back into a car, tree, building , dog, cat, or even a human. I believe this vehicle was made just for a woman.......JUST KIDDING ! Here's the punch line. The same day, she had driven a ( 2007 ) same make, model, and according to my wife and my sisters in law, it had the same specs... AND WAS PRICED THE SAME. It was one of the smartest moves I made at that time. The warranty not only made sales increase, it made the customer happy, [even though the customer paid for the warranty]; keep in mind, automobile dealers get paid commission on warranty sales . Warranty companies have many different types of warranties. It depends on year of auto, mileage, and in some cases , make and model. Prices vary depending on the warranty you select. Some of the warranties cover the power train [which is basically all internally lubricated parts]. Some of the warranties are just about as good as a new car manufacturers warranty, covering power train and electrical . Some companies manufacture lubricants they expect you to use for them to Honor the warranty. If you have a mechanical problem they have a list of auto repair shops to take care of the problem. Be sure you follow their terms and conditions and you should have no problem with getting your repairs taken care of. Also, make sure you understand what is and what is not covered, [do your homework].

Vehicle Warranty Part 1 { learn how to save a large sum of money }

A lot of people are unaware of how many different warranties are available for used automobiles . They will save you money if you follow closely. When your vehicle hits the block [in front of auctioneer and ready to sale] you should have already checked out the vehicle and know the price you are willing to pay. You should stand where you can see the auctioneer at all times. Listen closely to what he says about the vehicle. Also, look at the lights he will light. If the title is there the auctioneer will say title to go. If he says, comes with ride, a green light will light. It gives a person 1 hour after purchase to check out the vehicle if they have not yet done so. If they find something major wrong they can arbitrate. Someone from the auction will check out the complaint. If it is true, the bidder does not have to purchase the vehicle. If he finds the complaint to be wrong the bidder has to purchase the vehicle [which is why its very important to check out the vehicle before sale begins] . If the auctioneer says title attached a blue light should come on. This means the title is not there. The auction has 30 days to receive title and mail to you. You must still pay for the vehicle at auction, but the auction will not deposit your check until they receive the title. If the auction has not received title in 30 days from sale date you can return vehicle at no charge. Any monies spent will be returned to you at that time. If auctioneer says, or you see a yellow light, listen closely. He will explain why it is on. It can be for many different reasons. All yellow lights are sold as is [which means if you buy it, you own it]. All vehicles over 10 years old are sold under yellow. There may be nothing wrong with the vehicle, but law requires it to be sold under yellow. Vehicles sold exempt, or over 100000 miles, are sold under yellow. If you did not check the vehicle out completely I suggest you walk away and don't bid. Don't be the first to bid, auctioneers normally fish to begin with [they act like someone has placed a bid , or start out saying a high number]. Observe who the auctioneer is looking at and see if they really bid [look closely because sometimes bidders may just blink their eyes, wiggle a finger, or just nod their head; these are the ways people bid]. Once you know they are bidding you can join in, or wait until the end. The auctioneer will let you know when he or she is about to close the bid. There are also floor people walking around trying to take your bid and they yell it to the auctioneer. Always watch the auctioneer. Watch his or her eyes, follow them to see who is bidding against you. Make sure they are. I have watched people bid against themselves because they were not paying attention. If you get lost during the bidding [are not sure where or what is going on], don't be scared to ask the auctioneer. Good luck and let me know how much you saved. GOOD IDEA TO WATCH SOME BIDDING BEFORE YOUR VEHICLE COMES TO THE BLOCK. YOU WILL BE READY TO SAVE THOUSANDS

Auto Auctions { Part 11, Tips to figure what you want to pay for vehicle }

It is important to know how much you are willing to bid before vehicle hits the block to be auctioned. If you purchase a vehicle [excluding Honda's, Toyota's, Suv's and pickup trucks] for under LOAN VALUE, and that vehicle checks out perfect, you will save from $ 2000 to $ 5000 dollars. If you are a consumer the auction will add the sales tax rate for your county. Be sure you add on the auction's buyers fee to the cost of the vehicle. Gauges that show full read outs should be as follows: oil pressure should read 40 to 50 pounds of pressure on average, water coolant gauge should be around 200 degree's when engine is fully warmed up, battery gauge should read 14 amps or more. If everything checks out you're ready to park vehicle, leave engine running. After parked, get out, make sure none of the glass is cracked or has chips, check for leaks, check for smoke from exhaust, raise hood and listen to engine [make sure it is running smoothe, no smoke from engine, no burnt oil smell, no engine leaks]. Now you can turn engine off. If brakes check out and brake pedal stays high after applying, it should be safe to test vehicle further [if not safe, test no further] make note for future use. Next speed up just a little bit and turn steering wheel from right to left quickly [make sure steering wheel does not have too much play in it, listen for noises in front end, and vibrations] . Now drive straight, listen for strange sounds, make sure the vehicle still goes straight when you release hands from steering wheel [let go of wheel just for a second or two] make sure vehicle rides smoothe [no vibrations]. If your test drive vehicle is an automatic, be sure you get up enough speed for transmission to shift through all gears smoothly; make sure reverse, 1, 2, 3, and overdrive [some vehicles have manual overdrive] work properly. If you are testing a four wheel drive put the vehicle in four wheel and test [a good way is to get in gravel, stop then push gas down a little. Stop, get out of vehicle and check for gravel slung in all four tire places if working properly] check in high and low range, make sure it drives and pulls properly. Make sure odometer is working properly while you are driving [this is very important -- the odometer has a lot to do in determining the selling price]. Continue in part 9 .

Auto Auctions { Part 7, checking out vehicle before purchase }

Turn off the radio, cd player, dvd player. Now turn on the a/c, [air conditioner] check for coolness [if cool weather, make sure a/c clutch on a/c compressor is turning; if too cool inside to tell if a/c is cool, check all settings on fan; be sure they blow at each setting. Now vehicle should be warmed up, leave engine running and with vehicle in park, emergency brake on, turn on headlights and step outside; check headlights on bright and dim; check blinkers, brake lights, and all other exterior lights. Look in trunk to make sure it is in good shape; check spare tire. Check again for oil and water leaks [water may leak from a/c dryer which is normal].

Check exhaust for smoke [light grey smoke with moisture mixed in could be a cracked block; dark grey smoke with a burned oil smell could mean engine is burning oil -- either one of these is very costly, so beware]. Open hood, listen for a knocking sound and look for oil leaks on engine, check all hoses and belts [make sure they don't need replaced]. Check battery and battery post. Batteries have dates on them so check the age [the average battery last 3 to 4 years under normal usage]. Listen for pulley noise, listen for clutch noise on a/c; a proper running runs smooth with very little engine noise. MAKE NOTES IF ANY PROBLEMS WERE FOUND IN PART 6 or 7. When you locate a vehicle you like, you're ready to check it out. First, walk around the vehicle to check the paint. Make sure all fenders, doors, hood, trunk, and roof match. Also, check for dents and scratches, open doors, hood, and trunk to check joints; close them to make sure they align properly. You should be able to tell if the vehicle has been painted over anywhere. [if it has, be sure to make a note]. Look at all tires [check for wear, and that all are same make]; if worn badly and or different make, be sure to make a note. Now look under vehicle [check exhaust system for rust, under entire bottom for rust, check for oil or water leaks] if you see any make a note. Now it's time to crank the vehicle and let it warm up, while it is warming up check out the following, [all electrical, power windows, power door locks, power seats, in other words all power settings, power sun/moon roof, if convertible, power up and down, radio, cassette, cd player, dvd player, good to have a cassette, cd, and dvd with you to test properly, check sound at all speakers, check navigation system if available, check all interior lights, check blinkers, horn, check for any lights saying repairs are needed, overhead lining, interior, seats, doors, console, dash, glove box, all mirrors, carpet, all rubber around doors, etc.

Auto Auctions { Part 5, Best time to go to auctions and why }

The best time to go to auto auctions is daytime; clear weather if possible. Be sure to arrive at least two hours before the sale begins. Walk the lot and find as many vehicles as you can with possibilities. Most auctions have a test track you can drive the vehicles on, if not, many will let you drive it on the highway. Be sure you check the vehicle out before it enters the building. You need a clear day so you can see the paint better; vehicles should not smoke after being warmed up, [on cool nights with moisture in the air vehicles will smoke longer, some dealers or consumers will bring vehicles at night for that reason]. Many auctions will have web sites which list most of the automobiles for auction on that sale date. Find the best auction for your needs. Now is the time to setup payment plan with auction [most acccept cash, check, money order, cashiers check or bank draft]. Be sure you secure payment method before going to auction. Let the auction know what price range you are willing to spend and they can tell you what the buyers cost will be [buyers cost is what the auction makes from you for their services].
